Kirandul: Shri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with great enthusiasm, religious fervour and devotion at the historic Shri Shri Pashupatinath Temple, located at Ring Road No. 4 in Kodenar Gram Panchayat, Kirandul.
The temple, which was constructed on February 28, 2011, has continued its tradition of organising various religious and cultural programmes every year. Continuing the tradition this year as well, a grand Janmashtami celebration was organised at the Mangal Bhawan premises of the temple.
The programme began with a series of competitions for children, including fancy dress, dance and speech contests. Dressed as Lord Krishna, Radha Rani, Balram and Sudama, the young participants delivered captivating performances that won the hearts of devotees.
The adorable presentations by the children created a vibrant atmosphere in the temple premises, with devotees enthusiastically applauding and encouraging the young performers.
The celebrations continued into the night with devotional bhajans, kirtans and religious programmes. The atmosphere turned spiritually charged as the clock struck midnight and the birth of Lord Krishna was ceremonially celebrated.
The temple premises reverberated with devotional chants such as “Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki” and “Hathi Ghoda Palki, Nand Ke Anand Bhayo, Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki.” A large number of devotees gathered at the temple to offer prayers and seek the blessings of Lord Krishna.
Adding further joy to the celebrations, the Shri Shri Pashupatinath Temple Committee distributed gifts to all the participating children. The gesture brought smiles to the faces of the young participants and added a special touch to the festivities.
Members of the temple committee said that such religious and cultural programmes are organised with the aim of strengthening devotional spirit, cultural values and social harmony in the region.
The Janmashtami celebration concluded peacefully in an atmosphere filled with faith, devotion, joy and spiritual fervour, reaffirming the temple's tradition of bringing the local community together through religious and cultural celebrations.
