‘Govinda Aala Re Aala’ Echoes in Kirandul as Grand Dahi Handi Competition Marks Janmashtami

Spirit Group Hosts Traditional Dahi Handi Event; Women and Children’s Competitions Add to the Festive Spirit

Kirandul, Bastar: The spirit of Lord Krishna’s Janmashtami celebrations came alive in Kirandul as the city witnessed a grand Dahi Handi breaking competition organised under the banner of the Spirit Group.

The event was held at the Project School Ground, where hundreds of people gathered to witness the thrilling competition. The atmosphere turned electrifying as participating teams formed human pyramids and made determined attempts to reach the Dahi Handi suspended high above the ground.
As the teams climbed higher, the crowd erupted in cheers of “Govinda Aala Re Aala”, turning the venue into a vibrant celebration of devotion, enthusiasm and community spirit.

Women and Children Join the Celebrations
Adding a special dimension to the event, several entertaining competitions were also organised for women and children. Participants took part enthusiastically and enjoyed the celebrations, giving the programme a strong family and community-oriented character.

Winning Team Receives ₹15,000 Prize
The team that delivered an impressive performance in the Dahi Handi competition was awarded a cash prize of ₹15,000. Other participating teams were also felicitated with consolation prizes to encourage their participation and sportsmanship.

Members of the Spirit Group, including Bablu Siddiqui, Jobins Papachan, Manoj Chhival, Sunil Gupta, Jitendra Gupta and Rohit Arora, remained present during the programme. The organisers and volunteers played an important role in making the event successful.
Police Maintain Tight Security
Kirandul Police Administration made elaborate security arrangements at the venue to ensure the celebrations remained peaceful and orderly. Police personnel remained deployed throughout the programme, while participants were also checked with a substance-detection machine as part of the safety arrangements.

With enthusiastic participation from residents, energetic performances by the teams and tight security arrangements, the Dahi Handi competition concluded peacefully, leaving Kirandul immersed in the festive spirit of Lord Krishna’s Janmashtami
